MHSAA announced a “phased-in” approach to the reopening of fall sports today. Here are some key points pertaining to Pellston Athletics that most people will have questions about:
- Cross country will begin practice on Wednesday, August 12. The most notable change to cross country this fall will be that only 70 runners will be allowed in a race. Athletic Directors will be taking a look at schedules and making adjustments based on this.
- High school football will still begin practice on Monday, August 10. This will be a conditioning type week in only helmets. Full pad practices may now begin on August 17th. There will be no pre-season scrimmages at any level. Decision on competitions will be made on or before August 20, 2020.
- High school volleyball is able to start practice on Wednesday, August 12 (since our region is in phase 5). No scrimmages are allowed. A decision about competitions will be made on or before August 20. Competitions, if approved, will be restricted to 4 teams per site, including JV teams. This will have an impact on tournament schedules.
- ALL SPORTS: Spectators will be limited for both indoor and outdoor events. These limits will be announced at a later date (prior to the start of competition). Spectators will be required to wear face coverings.
