Pellston High School
If you had the chance to get over to Pellston’s football game this season, you could see that they were a young team with a lot of potential and that they were developing into a solid football team. On Thursday night, you got to see that potential on full display as the Hornets, in their final game, defeated Charlton Heston 84-24.
Freshman QB Chase Zink threw for 284 yards, 6 passing touchdowns, and had no interceptions. Senior Josiah Crawford led the Hornets with a total of 7 touchdowns. He rushed for 120 yards on 13 carries with 1 rushing touchdown. In the passing game he caught 17 passes for 120 yards and 5 touchdowns. To finish out his scoring, on the final play of the game, he intercepted a pass and ran it back for a 60 yard touchdown. Senior running back Weengush Craven finished the night with 11 rushes for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 50 yards and 1 touchdown. Mitchel Riley caught 1 pass for 59 yards and took it to the house for 6. Having only played one half before injuring his ankle, Lakota Worthington ran for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.
On defense, Case Kilpatrick did what he’s done all year and that was to lead the team in tackles. He had 8 solo and 5 assist tackles. JT Keiser also had a stellar game with 8 tackles. Weengush Craven added another 5 to his total. Zander Overholt picked up a fumble and ran for 40 yards. He also had one QB sack.
